Look Out For Frost Flowers
Posted on Friday, November 30th, 2012 at 8:36 pm by dowcoenterprises
This is the time of year for early risers to be on the lookout for “frost flowers”. I have stumbled across several of them in past years and they have literally stopped me in my tracks.
They are typically found in fields or along a wood line where the plants are 1-3’ tall. The time of day to look for them is very early in the morning, when it is light enough to see but the sun hasn’t yet made it over the horizon.
See a photo and description of how they are formed here.
Don’t forget the camera because they disappear as soon as they are hit with the first rays of sunlight!
